FOR A FRIENDDDDDD~
Goodbye winter, you were disappointingly snow-less this year. :(
Just finished reading Northanger Abbey, and I liked it a lot.
For being such an essential novel in the Romantic / Gothic period, and giving such insight into gothic parody, I’m quite surprised I hadn’t read it yet… especially in the Austen class I took last year. But anyway, it was a good read and although seemingly typical to Austen’s style and themes, it has a unique touch to it as it has that dark, overblown gothic imagination element that I haven’t come across in any of her other works. The way Austen was able to mock the default “heroine” love tale, but then write one, and then go on to write several others (Northanger was her first novel), was intriguing and I thought it really amusing. Also, if you study/read other female novelists from the period like Burney or Wollstonecraft or even Bronte, I think that this novel is essential to creating an advanced understanding of how they are all connected and Austen goes out of her way in this novel to allude to and sometimes parody other authors of the period.
Watched the 2007 film as well, and enjoyed that. Giggled at some of the changes the screenwriter chose to make, but overall not a far off or unenjoyable little adaptation.
“Friendship is certainly the finest balm for the pangs of disappointed love” and
“Where the heart is really attached, I know very well how little one can be pleased with the attention of anybody else”
So I thought I was either a) having some sort of attack/break down b) shaking oddly and thought maybe I should go lie down
‘till my brother asked if I felt that earthquake. k good I’m still normal.
Feel bad for the cat that was on the balcony and stared at me oddly as it was happening.
and obvi I’m super happy about the results! (girl power, yknow?)
It was a fun watch and makes me want to cook/ eat at really fancy restaurants. nom nom.
But what I really want to know is… how do these judges, specifically chef Ramsay, ever eat at normal restaurants again?? With such a critical taste, how could you eat without judging every element on the plate? I find it difficult to imagine him enjoying anything but five star restaurants…
Oh how I wish I was his friend/date.
it feels really good when you’re working and you get thrown different projects and you have never done anything like it before but you end up doing it and doing it well. I started off working mainly with Illustrator, then Flash and now I’m going into Dreamweaver. Anyone who uses these programs will know that they aren’t extremely different, once you master one you pretty much can use the others… but its still a good feeling. its like hey, I’m multi-talented. Throw me whatever you got! i’ll do it! ezpznpz
edit; this only applies to similar things… cause like if i was a chef and i was told to mop the floors i wouldn’t be like ’ omgz i’m so multi- talented’! fml
Watched Singapore @ the Horseshoe last night randomly (and for the first time), and I’m totally in love. thus, I must share their amazingness with the world:
Buying this dining set tomorrow :)
Went to Ikea and couldn’t find anything in our price range that I liked… so found this amazing deal on craigslist from a really nice couple who are moving. Went to see it today and I’m in love.
Its a black glass table and four wooden chairs. The seating is a little rustic and may need some touch ups but they’re pretty old U of T desk chairs which I think is really freakin’ nifty. I think it’ll really go with the rest of our place :)
Yay for decor~!
is amazing! The move has been great. Havent had a lot of time to update because my internet isnt too stable yet, although i have a handful of funny moving pictures to share.
Everything has been working out great though. Got an AC, a bed and a desk. Everything is looking really good, and this location makes me beyond happy.
